Transfer credit for the University of Tokyo exchange can include HASS credit (9 units) and Japanese language (12 units), as well as either concentration or restricted elective credit for course 2/2-A/2-OE. Potential class topics include energy, bioengineering, nano-engineering and materials science (specific classes open to exchange students will be sent out in a follow-up email). Each U Tokyo engineering class is worth either 3 or 6 units. Note: the study period for this exchange program is January – May (two terms at U Tokyo).
Requirements (by the end of Junior Fall):
- All Majors: at least 1 semester of Japanese language.
- 2-A Majors: Sophomore Core subjects completed (2.087/18.03, 2.086, 2.001, 2.03, 2.04A, 2.06 (SP or Jr Fall), at least one of 2.00/2.007 and 2.678) plus 2.05, 2.051, 2.671 in Junior Fall.
- 2/2-OE Majors: Sophomore Core, plus most of Junior year subjects (18.03, 2.001, 2.003, 2.005, 2.006, 2.007/2.017, 2.086, 2.670, 2.671, and at least one of 2.002, 2.004, 2.008/2.016)
